Tall fescue is a cool-season, perennial grass species that is best suited to temperate, humid climate zones. In the Köppen-Geiger climate classification system (Fig. 3-2), this description corresponds to GROUP C: Temperate/mesothermal climates, including Mediterranean (Csa, Csb), Humid subtropical (Cfa, Cwa), and Maritime temperate (Cfb, Cwb), and GROUP D: Continental/microthermal climates, including Hot Summer Continental climates (Dfa, Dwa, Dsa) and Warm Summer Continental or Hemiboreal climates (Dfb, Dwb, Dsb) (Kottek et al., 2006).
