Tall fescue is grown in many temperate areas of the world (see Chapter 1 and Chapter 3). These areas vary widely with regard to soil types, climatic conditions, pests, and environmental conditions (see Chapter 4) that have impacts on tall fescue total and seasonal growth and on persistence. These factors strongly influence management strategies within a given area and are magnified in some major regions of the world. As a result of these variables, the managements appropriate for the northern hemisphere, in particular for the United States, are presented here separately from those desirable for the southern hemisphere (see Chapter 7).
