Q: I am having difficulty navigating this site. How can you help?

A: Please review the following legend for link functionality:

  • Next-->: a link labeled "Next-->" will open the next section in the chapter you are reading.
  • Next Chapter-->: a link labeled "Next Chapter-->" will open the next chapter; these links are found at the end of the "References" page of each chapter.
  • <--Previous: a link labeled "<--Previous" will open the previous section in the chapter you are reading.
  • <--Previous Chapter: a link labeled "<--Previous Chapter" will open the "References" page of the previous chapter; these links are found in the "Abstract" page of each chapter.
  • Back to Top: A link labeled "Back to Top" will take you from the bottom of the page to the top, in order to aid quickly your return to the chapter sections menu found in the left-hand column of the site.
  • Chapter #: a link labeled "Chapter #" will open the abstract of Chapter #; these links are found throughout the chapters.
  • Chapter #: Section Title: a link labeled "Chapter #: Section Title" will open at the beginning of that section in the indicated chapter. These are found below the title, "See Related Information In:" at the bottom of the "Abstract" page of each chapter; these linked chapter sections contain information related in some way to the current chapter you are reading.
  • Table of Contents: a link labeled "Table of Contents" will open the Table of Contents.
  • Tall Fescue Monograph or Home: a link labeled "Tall Fescue Monograph" or a link labeled "Home" will open the Homepage for this site.
  • Figures: all figures are linked to open a larger image in a new window; just click anywhere on the figure. When finished viewing the expanded figure, simply close the New Tab or the New Window that was created, in order to return to the chapter you were viewing. You can also click and drag the new tab off the tool bar and release, to spawn an independent window in order to be able to read text about the figure while simultaneously viewing the full-sized figure (you may need to resize the new independent window to utilize this feature). When figures are related to multiple sections, the feature of opening a new window allows you to link to related text on your current topic of interest without losing your place in the page you were reading initially.
  • Tables: the titles for all tables are linked to a separate page containing the table text in a new window; click anywhere on the title. When finished viewing the expanded table, simply close the New Tab or New Window created to return to the chapter you were viewing. You can also click and drag the new tab off the tool bar and release, to spawn an independent window in order to be able to read text about the table while simultaneously viewing the table (you may need to resize the new independent widow to utilize this feature). When tables are related to multiple sections, the feature of opening a new window allows you to link to related text on your current topic of interest without losing your place in the page you were reading initially.
  • URLs: all URLs will open a new window that redirects you to the referenced website. When finished viewing the opened URL, simply close the New Tab or New Window created to return to the chapter you were viewing. Should you click on a URL which has been rendered inactive since it was checked, you might search for a revised URL through a search engine or contact the chapter author directly.
  • Author(s): A click on the desired name will open a photograph. - A click on "Short Vita" below the photograph will open the main "Authors" page and jump to the given author's short biography.
  • A - B - C - D...: on the "References" pages and "Authors" page, an alphabetical series of links is provided at one or more places. A click on a letter will jump you to the first citation where the first letter of the author's last name corresponds to the clicked letter.

Q: Why does there seem to be inconsistencies with how individual pages are displayed?

A: This may be caused by the browser you are using. An out-of-date version of your favorite browser may be having difficulty reading the Drupal-based web development software coding used to create this site. Please ensure you are using the latest version of your web browsing application.

Here are the links for the most common browsers:

Q: How do I find the chapter or topic I want?

A: Click on the "Table of Contents", then click on the group that includes the desired topic found in the menu in the left-hand column of this page, then click on the specific chapter title you wish to view. You will be linked to the "Abstract" page of that chapter. From there, each section is a separate menu item found in the left-hand column that will jump to the selected section in the same window you are viewing currently.

Q: How do I switch from one chapter to another?

A: Return to the "Table of Contents", and select the topic desired, and then the desired chapter; OR go to the "Abstract" page of the chapter you are reading, and find a link to a chapter and section related to the current chapter; these links are found at the bottom of the "Abstract" page below "See Related Information In:".

Q: New windows keep opening successively and do not close as I call for new sections. What is happening?

A: Figure images, table links and website URLs open in new windows so that they can be viewed while also viewing the text. The new tabs can be clicked and dragged off the tab bar and released, forcing a separate window that can be resized, so that images, tables, and website can be viewed while reading the text. When finished viewing images, tables and websites, simply close the new window(s) that was(were) created and continue with the chapter.

Q: I got lost after clicking on a hot link in the chapter I was reading. What do I do now?

A: Figure images, table links and website URLs open in new windows so that they can be viewed while also viewing the text. When done viewing images, tables and websites, simply close the new window(s) that was(were) created and continue with the chapter without excessive windows building up.

Q: I have found what I believe is a typographical, grammatical, or subject matter content error. What do I do?

A: Please copy the offending sentence, paragraph, or table portion to a Word .doc file, and include the URL where this error is located. Below the copied error, describe or show the appropriate correction. Send this document to one of the three editors; contact information can be found in the "Contact Us" link found at the top border of this site, above the "Table of Contents" link.

Q: I have an update or a contribution to an existing chapter. What do I do?

A: Please send it to one of the three editors for consideration; one of them will contact you. Contact information can be found in the "Contact Us" link found at the top border of this site, above the "Table of Contents" link.

Q: I have a better picture than the one you show on a particular topic. What do I do?

A: Please send the picture to one of the three editors as a .jpg file (not in or as a Word .doc file); you will be credited as the source when the picture is incorporated in the web page. Contact information can be found in the "Contact Us" link found at the top border of this site, above the "Table of Contents" link.
