Foreward

Environmentally sound and economically productive grass seed farming are the goals of every grass seed grower. Within the context of this handbook, we hope to help you achieve your goals.

We've focused our attention on management practices that are most influential to water quality and economic rewards.

Scientists and researchers from Oregon State University, the USDA Agricultural Research Service and the Extension Service embraced the idea of putting this handbook together and was provided by them. Growers also have contributed substantially through their willingness to adopt and quantify the effectiveness of different production methods.

This handbook was produced by the Oregon Seed Council under the direction of a panel of scientists and farmers and funded by the Oregon Department of Agriculture. We think you'll find the information presented in these pages insightful, substantial and well worth reading and using.
