Producer members represent the interest of each of the major species of grass seed produced in Oregon. Seed company members include both large and small businesses to assure a diverse viewpoint of issues affecting the industry,
Subject of interest to the Oregon Seed Council include: import/export regulations, phytosanitary regulation and inspection, research to maintain highest quality seed production, weed and disease control, seed testing standards and methodology, plus many others.

Each commodity commission is supported by growers, and is responsible to advance the understanding and application of its species and the grass seed produced.
Promotion and advertising of their species is part of the purpose of the commodity commissions. They also contribute funds for research concerning their grass seed species.
Each grass seed commodity commission is a member of the Oregon Seed Council and meetings are held quarterly.
