The purpose of this lesson is to help students understand that forage identification can benefit many involved with agriculture, veterinary, ecology, and conservation. All these professions can make better decisions if they know what is growing around them and what species would be more successful. This lesson provides the foundational concepts for seeing forages with a new eye which will make identification much easier. In order to properly identify forages; vocabulary, diagrams, and examples are provided. Practice is included for sustaining identification skills.
