There are forage plant species for a wide range of climatic zones. But productive and economical forage growth, at times, is facilitated by wise irrigation. The purpose of this lesson is to help students understand the importance of irrigation in producing high yields of quality forage, especially in the western United States. Proper irrigation considers the factors that regulate water use. This lesson will also familiarize students with irrigation efficiency and help students understand potential problems that may arise from the use of irrigation.
